Max Atchison

Max Atchison is an experienced legal professional currently serving as an Assistant Public Defender for the City of Atlanta since December 2024. Prior to this role, Max worked as a Legal Fellow at the Southern Center for Human Rights from March to November 2024. Max has also held positions at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office as a Certified Law Student and Legal Intern, contributing to court appearances and legal research in early 2022, and participated in the Innocence and Justice Project at The University of New Mexico School of Law as a legal intern in mid-2021, focusing on client intake interviews and legal issues. In earlier roles, Max served as Office Manager and Paralegal at The Law Offices of Cliff Gardner, where assistance was provided on high-profile cases, and interning at Pima County's Legal Defender’s Office and again at The Law Offices of Cliff Gardner, concentrating on cases and legal documentation. Max holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco, completed in 2023, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies from the University of Arizona, earned in 2018.
