Evelyn Mitchell

Evelyn Mitchell is a seasoned planning and equity professional currently serving as Principal Planner for the City of Austin since February 2024, and as Senior Manager for Coalitions and Outreach at Smart Growth America since November 2022. With prior experiences as an Associate at Justice and Sustainability Associates, LLC, and Equitable Development Manager for the 11th St Bridge Park Project at THEARC-Building Bridges Across the River, Evelyn has demonstrated a commitment to equitable urban development. Notably, as Co-Equity Lead for Fairfax County Government, Evelyn played a pivotal role in advancing equity initiatives within the department. Evelyn's educational background includes a Master of Science in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Austin College, complemented by a study abroad experience focused on Multiculturalism and Human Rights in South Africa.
