Mark Escott, MD MPH FACEP FAEMS NRP has a diverse work experience in the field of emergency medicine and public health. Mark currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer and EMS System Medical Director for the City of Austin, where they have been in various leadership roles since 2016. Mark also previously held the position of Interim Health Authority & Medical Director for the City of Austin from 2019 to 2021. Additionally, they serve as the Alternate Health Authority for the City of Austin.

Dr. Escott has also worked as the Medical Director for the Texas Department of Public Safety since 2016. Mark is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Flinders University.

In the professional organizations, Dr. Escott has been involved with the American Board of Emergency Medicine as an EMS Physician since 2014. Mark has held various leadership positions in the American College of Emergency Physicians, including Immediate Past Chair, Chair, and Chair-Elect of the Section of EMS and Prehospital Medicine. Mark has also contributed as a Columnist for JEMS-The Journal of Emergency Medical Services.

Prior to their current roles, Dr. Escott worked as an Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine from 2010 to 2017. Mark has also served as a Member of the Board of Directors for the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce and as the Public Health Authority for Montgomery County, Texas.

Mark Escott, MD MPH FACEP FAEMS NRP obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Religious Studies from Rice University from 1991 to 1996. Mark later received a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from Flinders University between 2000 and 2003. Additionally, they pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). Moreover, they obtained an Emergency Medicine Certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine in December 2019.
