Franz Loewenherz has a range of experience in transportation planning and management. Franz started their career as a Research Assistant at the Washington State Transportation Center in 1992. From there, they moved on to Weslin Consulting Services, where they worked as an Associate Planner, managing various projects such as environmental impact statements and transit operations analyses. In 1993, they joined Community Transit as a High Capacity Transit Planner, advising elected officials on regional planning and overseeing the agency's transit development plan. In 2000, Franz joined the City of Bellevue, Washington, initially as a Principal Transportation Planner, responsible for pedestrian, bicycle, ADA accessibility compliance, and transit planning studies. Franz later became the Mobility Planning and Solutions Manager, leading a team in strategic transportation policy development and intergovernmental coordination. Franz's work experience demonstrates their expertise in transportation planning, policy development, and stakeholder engagement.

Franz Loewenherz completed their high school education at the International School of Florence from 1984 to 1987. Franz then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies at the New College of Florida from 1987 to 1991. Afterward, they attended the University of Washington from 1991 to 1992, where they obtained a Master of Urban Planning degree with a specialization in Land Use and Transportation.
