Blake Lyon has extensive experience in planning and community development. Blake is currently serving as the Director of Planning and Community Development for the City of Bellingham, a position they have held since February 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director of Building and Development Review Services for Pinellas County Government for eight years, from February 2014 to February 2022. From November 2002 to February 2014, they served as the Planning Manager for the City of Redwood City. Before that, they worked as an Associate Planner for the City of Santa Monica from June 2000 to October 2002. Their career in planning started as an Environmental Planner for Impact Sciences, Inc, where they worked from 1998 to 2000.
Blake Lyon attended Principia College from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Blake continued their education at Notre Dame de Namur University from 2008 to 2011, earning a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in the field of Public Administration.
