Giovanny Valencia

Giovanny Valencia possesses extensive experience in community planning, organizing, and public service. Currently serving as a member of the Boston Zoning Board of Appeal since December 2022, Giovanny has a strong background with the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation as Vice President of Community Planning and previously as Director of Community Organizing. This role involved supervising staff and volunteers to enhance community engagement and leadership development. Prior roles include managing Latino outreach during the 2013 Boston mayoral election, organizing community advocacy through Stand for Children, and various positions in Colombia focusing on urban planning and architectural projects. Giovanny holds a Master’s degree in Urban Affairs from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Universidad de La Salle, and has participated in a Community Fellowship at Harvard Kennedy School.
