Sofia Aragon

Sofia Aragon serves as the Mayor of Burien and is a City Councilmember, holding these positions since January 2020. In addition, Sofia Aragon is an Affiliate Instructor at the University of Washington School of Nursing and has been involved in nursing education since June 2019. As the Executive Director of the Washington Center for Nursing since April 2015, Sofia Aragon focuses on enhancing the nursing workforce in Washington State. Prior roles include teaching at Seattle University, serving as a Senior Governmental Affairs Advisor at the Washington State Nurses Association, and working as a Legislative and Policy Manager for the Washington State Department of Health. Sofia Aragon's educational background includes a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seattle University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Washington.
