Cfo Michael Contreras

Michael Contreras has extensive work experience in the field of firefighting and emergency response. Michael began their career in 1989 as a firefighter and progressed through various roles including Firefighter Paramedic, Fire Captain Paramedic, and Battalion Chief. During this time, they planned and supervised firefighting personnel, conducted safety inspections, and provided educational programs to schools and community groups. Michael also served as the Wellness and Fitness Coordinator, where they researched workers' compensation data and provided consultation to the department's Wellness and Fitness program. In 2018, they were promoted to Division Chief at the Orange County Fire Authority. In 2010, Contreras founded FMS Health and Safety, LLC, where they served as CEO and President. Currently, they are the Fire Chief at the City of Cathedral City since 2022.

Michael Contreras, CFO, has a diverse educational background. Michael obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, graduating in 1988. In 1996, they earned a License in Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) from Saddleback College.

Currently, Michael is pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) degree from California Coast University, which they are expected to complete in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Michael has obtained several certifications. Michael holds certifications as a CrossFit Instructor at Level 1 and 2, as well as Olympic Weightlifting. Michael is also certified as a Functional Movement Screen Instructor at Tactical Level 1 and 2. Michael is a Peer Fitness Trainer certified by the American Council on Exercise and has obtained the RKC certification from Tactical Strength, Inc. Furthermore, they hold certifications as a Sports Performance Coach from USA Weightlifting and as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from NSCA. Finally, Michael has obtained certifications for TRX Level 1, 2, and Rip Trainer.
