Timothy Tyler serves as the Chief of Police for the City of Champaign since June 2022, leading strategic and administrative operations within the Police Department. In addition, Timothy holds the position of Chief of Operations for the 86th Training Division, overseeing the operational staff. Previous roles include Chief of Police for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Battalion Commander for the 327th Military Police Battalion, and Deputy Director of the Illinois State Police, among others. A veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve, Timothy has extensive experience in law enforcement management and military operations. Timothy's academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Chicago State University and studies at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, among other institutions.
