Matthew Aumann is an experienced legal professional specializing in labor and employment law and civil rights defense. Currently serving as the Assistant Law Director for the City of Cleveland since August 2022, Matthew represents the city in federal and state courts and before third-party neutrals. Prior to this role, Matthew worked as a Public Law and Labor and Employment Associate at Isaac Wiles, where notable achievements included defending a $20 billion public procurement and advising on a multi-million dollar public hospital's disposition. Matthew's judicial experience includes a clerkship at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, assisting with legal research and opinion writing. Previous positions also include roles at Baker & Hostetler LLP and SCOTT SCRIVEN LLP, where Matthew provided counsel to educational institutions and public entities on labor disputes and negotiations. Matthew holds a Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Miami University.
