Tom Figert, MBA, CGCIO began their work experience in 1990 as an EM3 in the US Navy. From 1994 to 2000, they worked as an IT Analyst for Brinks Home Security. Tom then served as the Director of Information Technology for FirstWorthing Company from 2000 to 2004 and for BH Management Services, LLC from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2009, Tom worked as Director of Information Technology for Sarofim Realty Advisors, and from 2011 to 2011, they served as the Vice President of Information Technology for BH Management Services, Inc. Tom then became the Global Chief Information Officer for Harbor Group International from 2011 to 2015. Currently, Tom is the Managing Director of Information Technology for the City of DeSoto since March 2016.

Tom Figert, MBA, CGCIO, obtained their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Engineering and Technology Management from The University of Dallas from 2000 to 2003. Prior to their higher education, they attended Parkway Central/Parkway North, but the specific degree and field of study are unknown. In 2019, they obtained a certification as a Certified Government Chief Information Officer from the University of North Carolina School of Government.
