John Truong serves as the Director of Real Estate, Tax Incentives, and Special Projects for the City of Detroit, overseeing a surplus real estate portfolio of over 7,000 parcels since August 2019. Prior to this role, John held positions including Change Strategist at Volte and Interim Executive Director & Deputy Director at the Wayne County Land Bank, where significant organizational restructuring occurred. John's experience also includes managing a large parcel inventory at the Detroit Land Bank Authority and working on special projects in the Mayor's Office and during an Emergency Manager's tenure. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Retailing from Michigan State University, along with participation in the Equitable Development Initiative by Capital Impact Partners.
