Robert Shinske has extensive experience in the Detroit Fire Department, serving in various roles from Firefighter to Chief of the Fire Department. Since May 1986, Robert has held the position of Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Detroit. As Chief of the Fire Department from May 2013 to July 2022, Robert managed all administrative functions and restructured deployment strategies for improved emergency response. Notably, Robert was the first individual in the department's history to be promoted from Captain to Deputy Chief of Administration, where over 81 new policies were developed and implemented. Additionally, Robert served as Treasurer for the Detroit Firefighter's Association, leading critical initiatives such as the DFD Duty Related Injury Process. Educational credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Wayne State University and an Associate's degree from Schoolcraft College.
