Chris Gonzalez currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Police for the City of Durango, a position held since August 2024. Prior to this role, Chris spent over 21 years at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, where notable positions included Commander, multiple Lieutenant roles in various divisions, Patrol Sergeant, and SWAT Team Leader. Chris also has experience in project management from previous positions at JE Dunn Construction and Wurzel Builders LTD. Education includes a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture & Design from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Public Administration in Political Science and Government from Colorado State University, expected to complete in December 2025.
