Amy Chen

Amy Chen serves as the Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of East Palo Alto since April 2020, where responsibilities include overseeing Planning, Building, and Housing and managing a team of 20 staff. Previous experience includes various roles at the City of San José from July 2008 to April 2020, notably as the Senior Development Officer and Inclusionary Housing Program Manager, where Amy managed implementation of affordable housing initiatives and supervised a small team. Additional expertise encompasses grant acquisition, project management, and sustainability programs, along with teaching experience as an adjunct faculty member at San Jose State University. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Environmental Studies from Santa Clara University.
