Herb Blomquist

Public Works Director at City of Edmond

Herb Blomquist has a diverse and extensive work experience. Herb started their career in the US Army in 1978 and served in various positions of increasing responsibility, including company commander, operations manager, and human resources professional. Herb retired as an Army Major in November 1995. After that, they worked as a government contractor for Anteon from 1995 to 1997. From 1998 to 2001, they were the Plant General Manager at Midom - Inc., responsible for managing a 200-person production facility.

In 2001, they became the Public Works Director at the City of Watertown, SD, overseeing a 55-person department and managing a budget of over $10 million. Herb coordinated the construction of several major projects and economic development initiatives. Herb then joined the City of Edmond, OK Public Works as the Public Works Director in 2009. In this role, they managed a department of 125 people and a budget of over $18 million. Herb coordinated various construction projects and received accreditation from the American Public Works Association.

Additionally, from 2013 to 2015, Herb worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Norwich University. Overall, Herb Blomquist has a strong background in public works management, operations, and leadership.

Herb Blomquist attended Kofa High School from 1970 to 1974, where they did not pursue any specific degree or field of study. Following this, from 1974 to 1978, Blomquist enrolled at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, General. After a substantial gap, in 1990 to 1991, they attended Oklahoma City University for a year, earning a Master's degree in Business Administration. Lastly, from 2010 to 2012, Blomquist pursued a Master's degree in Public Administration at Norwich University.
