Melissa Hawthorne, MBA, REHS/RS, serves as the Deputy Director of Public Health for the City of El Paso, Texas, since June 2020, while also fulfilling the role of Sanitary Services Manager. From April 2014 to the present, Melissa has been an Adjunct Instructor at the Center for Domestic Preparedness, Leidos, Inc., and an Adjunct Faculty member at the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service since April 2021. Previous experience includes the position of Program Coordinator for Public Health Emergency Preparedness in Mohave County and multiple roles in environmental health and management within various state agencies. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of West Georgia and an MBA from Columbia Southern University.
