Karina Nava

Karina Nava is an experienced public administration professional currently serving as the Assistant City Manager in Elgin, IL, since August 2017, with prior roles including Assistant to the City Manager, Management Analyst, and Management Fellow. Before joining the City of Elgin, Karina worked as a Human Services Caseworker at the Illinois Department of Human Services from February 2014 to August 2017, and held positions as a ReaderShip Library Associate at the Gail Borden Public Library District and Volunteer Coordinator at Jumpstart. Karina also completed an internship at the Embassy of Mexico. Educated at Northern Illinois University with a Master of Public Administration and at DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies, as well as Latin American and Latino Studies, Karina brings a strong educational background to public service.
