Laura Murphy

Laura ("Laurie") Murphy is an experienced legal and municipal professional currently serving as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Fairfield, Ohio, since June 2022. Prior to this role, Laura was the Human Resources Director for Butler County from September 2017 to June 2022. Laura has a robust legal background, having worked as an Attorney At Law at the Law Offices of James A. Whittaker, LLC for over a decade, specializing in tort claims, transaction business, and civil litigation. Laura also held positions as a Senior Associate with Butkovich, Schimpf, Schimpf & Ginnichio, managing civil claims and litigation, and as an Associate Attorney with MCCASIN, IMBUS, & MCCASLIN, LPA, focusing on insurance defense. Early career experience includes serving as a Staff Attorney for the United States Department of Labor and the Second District Court of Appeals. Laura holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Dayton School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Justice from the State University of New York at Oswego.
