Tanja Carter

Tanja Carter currently serves as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Federal Way since December 2022, following significant experience in economic development roles across various municipalities and consulting positions. As an Economic Development Advisor at GAA-Marta Consulting since 2008, Tanja facilitated a multi-million dollar tourism program between Paramount Pictures and the Spanish Tourism Ministry. Previous roles include Economic Development Strategist for the City of SeaTac, where Tanja conducted regional tourism GAP analysis, and Economic Development Officer for the City of Auburn, focused on workforce development and tourism initiatives. Tanja also has a background in marketing management with Brooks Running and project management with Pacific Project Management, alongside entrepreneurial experience as Owner/Business Development Director of The Missing Link Brand Engineers. Tanja holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations from American University, a Real Estate Investment Banking Certification from the European Business School, and was a World Affairs Council Fellow in 2022.
