Tony Palermo, AICP has over 25 years of experience in various planning and development roles. Tony began their career as a Staff Writer at Sun Coast Media Group in 1994 before moving on to work as a Planner at Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners in 1997. From 1999 to 2002, they served as a Project Coordinator at the City of Sarasota, where they were responsible for the coordination and preparation of the Consolidated Plan. Tony then joined Lee County in 2002 as a Senior Planner, where they handled zoning cases, land development code amendments, and special projects. In 2017, they joined the City of Fort Myers as the Assistant Director of the Community Development Department, overseeing multiple divisions and representing the city during hurricane activations.

Tony Palermo, AICP, has a strong educational background. Tony earned a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from The George Washington University from 1991 to 1993. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Political Communications at The George Washington University Columbian College of Arts & Sciences from 1987 to 1991.

Tony Palermo's education journey began at Pine View School, where they received a High School Diploma from 1980 to 1987.

In addition to their academic achievements, Tony Palermo has obtained a certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) through the American Planning Association in January 2007.
