Dan Schoenholz

Community Development Director at City of Fremont

Dan Schoenholz has extensive work experience in the public sector, particularly in community development and environmental sustainability. Dan started their career at the Port of Oakland as an Associate Port Environmental Scientist from 1990 to 1996. In 1998, they joined the City of Fremont as a Management Analyst in the City Manager's Office and later became Deputy Director of Human Services. From 2006 to 2011, they served as the Special Projects Manager in the Community Development Department. From 2011 to 2018, they held the position of Deputy Community Development Director, where they managed green infrastructure projects and implemented the City's Climate Action Plan. Dan also served as the Interim Director from May to December 2018. Currently, they are working as the Community Development Director for the City of Fremont, leading a team of 80 professionals and serving as a member of the City Leadership Team.

Dan Schoenholz pursued their education with a strong focus on academia. Dan first attended Las Lomas High School, where they completed their secondary education from 1977 to 1981. Afterward, Dan Schoenholz enrolled in the University of California, Berkeley for their undergraduate degree, earning a Bachelor of Science in Plant and Soil Biology from 1981 to 1985. Continuing their educational journey, they then pursued a Master's in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley, which they completed from 1996 to 1998. In addition to their formal education, Dan Schoenholz has also acquired certification in Energy 101 from edX, although specific details regarding the time of completion are not available.
