Derrik Johnston has extensive law enforcement experience, currently serving as a Police Corporal at the Grand Forks Police Department since December 2004, primarily within the Uniform Patrol Bureau. Prior to this role, Derrik worked as a Police Officer at the University of North Dakota Police Department and served as a Deputy Sheriff at the Grand Forks County Sheriffs Office, focusing on prisoner transport and courthouse security. From February 2002 to February 2018, Derrik held the position of Battle Captain in the Minnesota Army National Guard, with deployments to Iraq in 2003 and Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012. Education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a Law Enforcement Certification from Minneapolis College.
