Matt Walker

Assistant Public Works Director at City of Grand Island

Matt Walker has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Matt is currently serving as the Assistant Public Works Director at the City of Grand Island since November 2021. In this role, they manage and coordinates the activities of the Grand Island Public Works Wastewater Division.

Before their current position, Matt worked at Zachry Group for almost a decade. Matt started as a Mechanical Engineer in April 2012 and gradually progressed to become a Process Engineer responsible for designing industrial process facilities. Later, they became the Manager of Mechanical Engineering for the Omaha office, where they provided technical leadership and supervised mechanical engineering activities for various industrial plant and special projects.

Matt also worked at Control Depot, Inc. as an Engineer from October 2010 to April 2012, and at Engineered Controls, Inc. as a Sales Engineer from June 2007 to September 2010. Prior to that, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at AMG, Inc. from June 2006 to June 2007.

Throughout their career, Matt has demonstrated strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage and coordinate complex engineering projects.

Matt Walker completed their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from the years 2001 to 2006. Matt then pursued a Master's Degree in Engineering Management at the same institution, which they obtained between 2016 and 2018. In addition to their educational background, Matt Walker also holds a certification as a Professional Mechanical Engineer, which they obtained from the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects in October 2013.
