Laura Olson

Assistant to the Mayor at City of Grand Rapids

Laura Olson is the current assistant to the mayor at the City of Grand Rapids. Prior to this, they served as the acting assistant to the mayor from January 2018 to April 2019. Laura has also worked as a 311 customer service representative for the City of Grand Rapids from September 2016 to January 2018. Additionally, Laura has experience in early childhood education, having worked as an assistant director and lead preschool teacher at Gilden Woods Early Care and Preschool from June 2015 to July 2015, and January 2014 to July 2015 respectively. Laura began their career in education as a mentor teacher at Suttons Bay Elementary School from August 2013 to December 2013. Laura has also held positions as a line worker at Britten Studios from May 2012 to January 2014, and as a substitute teacher with PCMI Services - Powered by Willsub from April 2012 to January 2014. Laura's first job was as a page at the Jackson District Library from August 2006 to August 2007.

Laura Olson has a Bachelor's of Education from Central Michigan University in Elementary Education and Teaching.
