Located on Bunurong Country, just 35 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD on the Monash Freeway, Greater Dandenong is a dynamic and thriving area and Melbourne’s second largest municipality. Covering 129.5 square kilometres, the city is home to more than 160,000 residents, with people coming from 157 different birth places and more than half of our residents born overseas.

Greater Dandenong is recognised as the capital of the south east and is Victoria’s manufacturing heartland. The city is home to more than 12,500 businesses and in excess of 70,000 people are employed locally.  

The city boasts 197 parks and 616 hectares of open space, a number of state-of-the-art cultural facilities including the multi-million dollar Drum Theatre, cultural precincts and cuisine, strong retail centres and the iconic Dandenong Market.  The city is also home to over 50 active sports clubs, more than 400 local community groups and service clubs as well as a range of festivals and events including Victoria’s largest Lunar New Year festival.
