Winna MacLaren

Winna MacLaren has extensive experience in communications and engagement roles. Winna is currently the Director of Communications and Engagement at the City of Greeley, a position they have held since November 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Communications and Engagement at the City and County of Denver from August 2021 to November 2022.

Before their role in Denver, MacLaren was the Public Relations Manager at Denver Public Schools from January 2020 to June 2021. In this role, they led communications and PR efforts, served as the district's spokesperson, and initiated new processes and programs to engage the community.

MacLaren also has experience as the Communications and Public Information Manager at Arapahoe County from March 2019 to January 2020. Winna developed data-informed communication strategies, managed marketing and paid media, and built strong relationships with the media.

Prior to their role at Arapahoe County, MacLaren was a Public Relations Specialist at the Denver Regional Council of Governments from December 2016 to March 2019. Winna served as the first-ever PR specialist for the nonprofit organization, managing strategy, campaign implementation, crisis communications, and community engagement.

MacLaren's earlier experience includes serving as the Communications Director at the South Metro Denver REALTOR Association, the Communications Coordinator at Humble ISD, and the Director of Communications at St. Pius X High School. Winna also held a role as the Holiday Project Coordinator at DePelchin Children's Center.

Throughout their career, MacLaren has demonstrated their ability to drive engagement, develop effective communication strategies, and deliver notable results.

Winna MacLaren holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Journalism and Romance Languages from New York University. In addition, they have obtained a certification in National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) from the Harris County Department of Education.
