Cathie Schanz Cpre

Cathie Schanz, CPRE has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Cathie served as the Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces Director, PIO, and Communications Director for the City of Hallandale Beach since March 2012, where they oversaw the operations, programming, and maintenance of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department. Additionally, they acted as the Public Information Officer, Communications/Digital Engagement Team Director, and Web Master for the city.

Prior to this role, Schanz held various positions in different organizations. From 2008, they have been a member of the National Recreation and Park Association. Cathie also became a member of the Florida Recreation and Park Association in 2001. Cathie held several roles in Altrusa International, including being a member of the Tampa Bay Club, Secretary for District Three from May 2017 to May 2019, Treasurer for District Three from April 2015 to May 2017, and Director for District Three from April 2011 to April 2013.

Schanz worked for the City of Tampa from September 2006 to December 2011, first as the Organizational Development Manager - Parks and Recreation, where they led the department's successful CAPRA Accreditation team and implemented the VSI Parks and Recreation Software System. Later, they served as the Operations Chief - Parks and Recreation, overseeing and directing recreation programs and maintenance operations in over 3,500 acres of parkland, managing a staff of 600 permanent employees and over 400 temporary and seasonal employees annually.

Previously, Schanz worked as the Area Operations Manager - Parks and Recreation for Brevard County Government from April 2001 to September 2006. Cathie'sresponsibilities included planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of operations in the Central Area service sector, managing budgets, and overseeing various park facilities.

Cathie also served as the District Supervisor - Parks and Recreation for Marion County BOCC from November 1997 to March 2001. Before that, they worked as the Assistant Recreation Programming Director for the Milwaukee County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture from May 1995 to November 1997.

In addition, Schanz gained experience as the Assistant WSA Soccer Complex Director for the Wisconsin Soccer Association from October 1993 to May 1995, where they managed event development, program planning and implementation, and facility operations, including maintenance and construction.

Cathie Schanz, CPRE's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management/Professional Communication from Alverno College, which they obtained from 1991 to 1994.
