Sharon Hu is a seasoned professional in management and sustainability with extensive experience in various analytical roles across multiple organizations. Currently serving as a Management Analyst for the City of Hayward since December 2022, Sharon has previously held positions such as Senior Associate at Kearns & West and Dow Sustainability Fellow at the Graham Sustainability Institute. Additional roles include Graduate Intern at the Government Finance Officers Association, Water Infrastructure Research Assistant at the University of Michigan Water Center, and Greenbelt Program Graduate Analyst for the City of Ann Arbor. Sharon's background also includes internships focused on policy and conservation with the World Wildlife Fund and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. An academic background consists of dual Master's degrees in Public Policy and Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, along with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Geography, and Environmental Systems from UCLA.

Hayward is a Charter City of 62.55 square miles and 145,839 residents governed under the Council-Manager form of government. Hayward is known as the “Heart of the Bay” because of its central and convenient location in Alameda County – 25 miles southeast of San Francisco, 14 miles south of Oakland, 26 miles north of San Jose and 10 miles west of the valley communities surrounding Pleasanton.
