Mark Themig

Mark Themig has extensive experience in the field of parks and recreation. Mark started their career in 1989 as an Aquatics Program Supervisor for the Department of Defense, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. From 1990 to 1996, Mark worked as an Aquatics and Recreation Program Supervisor for the City of Shoreview, where they planned and operated the first indoor waterpark in Minnesota. Mark then moved on to Ramsey County, where they served as a Recreation Services Manager from 1996 to 2000, overseeing various programs and managing the design and construction of the Battle Creek Family Aquatic Center. Mark then joined the City of Shakopee, MN as the Parks, Recreation, & Natural Resources Director from 2000 to 2007, where they were responsible for managing multiple program areas, coordinating park acquisitions, and overseeing major capital improvement projects. Mark then worked as the Parks & Trails Program Manager for Scott County from 2007 to 2012, where they led the development of the county's parks and open space system plan and served as the county's liaison at the Minnesota State Legislature. From 2013 to 2015, Mark served as the General Manager Scott County Parks for the Three Rivers Park District, where they played a key role in the planning, development, and delivery of parks, trails, and recreation services. Currently, Mark is the Community Services Director for the City of Healdsburg, where they oversee a variety of facilities and manages the department's programs and staffing for citizen engagement forums.

Mark Themig has a B.A. in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Mark also holds an M.A. in Parks & Recreation Administration/Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota.
