Karla Pierce

Karla Pierce is an experienced professional in the field of environmental services and public works, currently serving as the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Hutchinson, Kansas since February 2024. Prior to this role, Karla held the position of Environmental Program Manager for the Water Section at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources from March 2022 to February 2024. Karla's extensive background includes serving as Wastewater Treatment Superintendent at Johnson County Wastewater District and Environmental Services Manager for the City of Independence. Karla began their career at the City of Hutchinson, where roles included Water Quality Coordinator and WW Chemist. Additionally, Karla worked as a Chemist/Lab Supervisor at Jacam Chemicals. Karla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with an emphasis on Chemistry and Geology from Wichita State University, obtained between 2000 and 2005.
