Bud Cranor

Bud Cranor has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Bud began their career as a Reporter/Intern at Cougar Sports Magazine in 1994. Bud then worked as a Reporter at Brigham Young University for The Daily Universe. In 1995, they joined the Brigham Young University Communications Office as a Staff Writer.

In 1997, Bud started their own business, Cranor Communications, where they served as the Owner for a year.

Bud then transitioned to the State of Nevada in 1998, where they took on the role of the Southern Nevada Director in the Office of the Governor. In this position, they oversaw the operations of the governor's office and served as a liaison on policy and emergency management.

In 2003, Bud joined the City of Henderson, starting as a Special Assistant to the Mayor and City Council. Bud worked on various tasks, including policy development, intergovernmental relations, and crisis communications. Over the years, they took on roles such as Director of the Office of Communications and Council Support and Director of the Office of Mayor & Council Support, overseeing administrative staff and managing citywide operations.

Bud's most recent employment is with the City of Idaho Falls, where they currently hold the position of Chief of Staff.

Bud Cranor has a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations and Communications from Brigham Young University, which they obtained between 1991 and 1995. Bud also has a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from the same university, although the specific dates for this degree are not provided. In terms of additional certifications, Bud has completed various courses related to emergency management and response, such as the All Hazards COH Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) Workshop offered by the City of Henderson in 2014, and several courses offered by FEMA, including IS-775 – EOC Management and Operations, IS-880.b – National Response Framework, An Introduction, IS-00775 – EOC Management and Operations, IS-00800.b – National Response Framework, An Introduction, Integrated Emergency Management Course: Community Specific, Henderson, NV, and IS-00100.a – Introduction to the Incident Command System, all obtained in 2014. Bud also completed IS-00200.a – ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents and IS-00700 – National Incident Management System (IMS), An Introduction in 2008.
