Carl Morgan has been the Director of Economic Development at City Of Indio since July 2016. Prior to that, they were the Chief Executive Officer at San Diego North EDC from December 2012 to July 2016.
Under Morgan's leadership, the SDNEDC team worked to assess, evaluate and make recommendations to improve the organization's internal operating systems (IT, insurance and system-related activities). They also hired a new Investor Relations Manager, Economic Development Coordinator, Project Manager and Operations Manager. In addition, they managed the creation of a new SDNEDC website and established a Regional Branding Task Force.
Morgan was instrumental in developing key messaging and talking points for on camera interviews on George Chamberlin’s Money Matters on NBC 7 San Diego Jan 30, 2013, Tom Reece’s Business Roundtable on KOCT on April 4, 2013, Gene Cubbison, NBC 7 Meet the Electeds May 10, 2013, KPBS Midday Edition radio with Maureen Cavanaugh on April 3, 2013 and KUSI channel 9 live interview on July 2, 2013. Carl also assembled a team to produce a North County Business Journal to “spotlight” North County assets and attributes. The first edition was issued on May 10 and showcased our cities and unincorporated communities.
Most recently, Morgan has been working on an “action plan” to implement the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and Prosperity on Purpose (POP) to reinforce and enhance our industry clusters to build a stronger regional economy through regional collaboration and leadership.
They work with Andrew Ansoorian - Director of HR & Risk Management, Kevin Snyder - Director of Community Development, and Ian Cozen - Director of Information Technology. Carl Morgan reports to Scott Trujillo, Deputy City Manager. Some direct reports include Karen Hawkesworth - Senior Economic Development Analyst (PT), Miguel Ramirez-Cornejo - Senior Economic Development Analyst.
