Icma-Cm Eddie Smith

Eddie Smith, ICMA-CM, has extensive experience in municipal management, currently serving as the Deputy City Manager for the City of Kannapolis since June 2005, overseeing a $100 million budget and more than 450 employees. Responsibilities include direct supervision of Human Resources, Fire, Police, Information Technology, Finance, and Facility Maintenance, with indirect oversight of Utilities, Stormwater, Recycling, Solid Waste Collection, and Downtown Operations. Prior to this role, Eddie served as Town Manager for both the Town of Elkin from February 2001 to June 2005 and the Town of Lake Waccamaw from February 1999 to February 2001. Educational qualifications include a Master’s in Public Administration from Appalachian State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University, as well as additional studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
