Machell DePina has over 20 years of work experience in various human resources and organizational development roles. Machell started their career as a System of Care Coordinator at Oregon Services to Children & Families, where they implemented a service delivery system and represented the agency on interagency work groups and boards. Machell then worked as a Recruitment and Records Manager at Oregon Department of Human Services, managing all recruitment and records activities for approximately 9,500 employees. Machell also served as a Statewide Management Training Associate at the State of Oregon - Department of Administrative Services, where they researched, developed, and delivered training programs to improve statewide management practices. Machell also worked as a Human Resources Director at the Oregon Employment Department and the City of Keizer, overseeing personnel matters, labor relations, and training programs. Prior to that, they were a Training and Organizational Development Manager at the Oregon State Lottery, where they facilitated the update of the strategic plan and established diversity and training programs. Throughout their career, Machell has demonstrated expertise in organizational development, change management, and training.

Machell DePina's education history begins in 1981 when they enrolled at Linfield University. Machell studied Business Administration and earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985. After that, in 2000, they pursued further education at Willamette University, where they completed an MBA program and received a Certificate of Public Management in Public Administration in 2001.

In addition to their academic achievements, Machell DePina has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 1999, they became a Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) after completing the certification program offered by the HR Certification Institute - HRCI. Later, in 2012, they obtained the Senior Certified Profession IPMA-SCP certification from the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA). Furthermore, they became a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) with two certifications earned from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2015.
