Michael Hipp has a diverse work experience in the field of fire safety and rescue. Michael started their career as a Firefighter in the United States Air Force from April 1986 to March 1990. After that, they served as a Crash Fire Rescue Firefighter at Kent County International Airport from April 1990 to September 1991. Michael then joined the City of Kentwood Fire Department as a Firefighter from October 1991 to March 2001, during which they also held the position of Lieutenant/Inspector from March 2001 to May 2015. From May 2015 to July 2016, Michael was a Fire Captain at the City of Kentwood Fire Department. Later, they progressed to become a Battalion Chief at the same organization, holding the role from July 2016 to February 2020. Currently, they are serving as the Deputy Fire Chief of the City of Kentwood from February 2020.
Michael Hipp completed their education in 1990 at Davenport University, where they obtained a degree in Paramedic studies. Michael then furthered their education by attending MSP Training Center and completing their studies in Hazardous Materials Management and Waste Technology/Technician in 1996, earning a degree in Paramedic Instructor coordinator.
