Kate Schmiett

Kate Schmiett has a diverse range of work experience, primarily in the field of education and outreach. Kate has worked as an Education and Outreach Specialist for the City of Kirkland since January 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Curator of Education at the White River Valley Museum from December 2021 to December 2022.

From April 2020 to January 2022, Kate worked as an Instructional Design Contractor at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice. Kate also held the position of K-12 and Youth Programs Coordinator at the Museum of History & Industry from November 2016 to April 2020.

In addition, Kate has experience as an Instructional Assistant at Westside School (2015-2016), a Salmon Naturalist and Classroom Instructor, Curriculum Writer and Consultant at the Environmental Science Center (2014-2015), and a Marine Science Interpreter and Volunteer Supervisor at the Seattle Aquarium (2014-2015).

Before that, they worked as a Land and Water Educator at IslandWood (2013-2014) and as a Naturalist at Clipper Vacations (2012).

Kate Schmiett completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Nottingham between 2004 and 2007. They then pursued a Master's Degree in Science Teacher Education/General Science Teacher Education from the Islandwood Graduate Residency from 2012 to 2013. Finally, they obtained a Master of Education (MEd) with a focus on Science Education from the University of Washington in 2013-2014.
