Zander Johnston is a seasoned professional in emergency management with extensive experience spanning over a decade. Currently serving as the Sr. Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of La Quinta since February 2019, Zander is responsible for the development and updates of emergency plans and local hazard mitigation plans in compliance with FEMA and State guidelines, in addition to managing the La Quinta Emergency Operations Center and providing training for staff and community partners. Prior roles include Emergency Services Coordinator for the County of Riverside, Residential Property Manager at Waste Management, General Manager at MyS(h)elfDesign.com, Wildland Firefighter with Red Rock Fire, and Peace Corps Volunteer. Zander began the career in rural health and sanitation with Red Rock Fire. Zander holds a B.A. in Geoscience from the University of Iowa.
