Julie Sayers, IIDA, currently serves as the Mayor and City Council Member for the City of Lenexa since December 2019, advocating for health, safety, and welfare strategies aimed at reducing greenhouse gases and enhancing community resilience. With a professional tenure at encompas from December 2011 to the present, Julie holds the titles of Principal/Owner and Senior Associate, overseeing project management teams and executing corporate, education, and hospitality projects. Previously, Julie worked as an Interior Project Designer III at AECOM from 2004 to 2011, where significant experience was gained through large-scale sports and civic projects. Julie's career began with an internship at GLPM Architects in 2003, following a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from The University of Kansas, completed in 2004.

Known in this area as the City of Festivals, Lenexa hosts numerous events including the Great Lenexa Barbeque Battle – The Kansas State Championship, Community Days Parade, Freedom Run, Midnight Bike Ride, Waterfest, Tails on the Trails pet festival, Spinach Festival, Chili Challenge, Enchanted Forest, Senior Banquet and Holiday Lighting Ceremony. Lenexa is looked to as a leader in local government initiatives such as public safety, development issues, festivals, watershed management, and the use of technology. The city has a long history of sustainable practices and thoughtful planning, which enables the community to meet its current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
