Janice Nowicki has extensive experience in educational and governmental roles, currently serving as the Executive Assistant to the Mayor in the City of Livonia since September 2020. Prior to this, Janice was a Board Member for the Zoning Board of Appeals from November 2017 to September 2020 and held various positions at Madonna University, including Director of Matriculation, Administrative Assistant II, and Program Secretary from November 2010 to September 2020. Janice began their career as a Fifth Grade Teacher at J.O. Combs Unified School District and served as a Substitute Teacher for PESG, LLC. Additional experience includes a brief role as a Docent at The Henry Ford. Janice holds a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Madonna University, along with a Bachelor of Science in General Science/Elementary Education and an Associate's degree in General Studies from Schoolcraft College. Formal education commenced with a High School Diploma from Churchill High School.

Livonia offers an array of recreational opportunities. The Livonia Parks and Recreation Department now oversees 46 developed municipal parks that encompass nearly 1,800 acres. Livonia takes pride in its 3 city owned and operated golf courses, twenty-two playgrounds, forty-two baseball diamonds, thirty-three tennis courts, and twenty-seven soccer fields. The City also owns two indoor ice arenas with three sheets of ice. Livonia's state of the art Community Recreation Center is a 130,000 square-foot facility with two pools, four gyms, gymnastics center, climbing wall, indoor soft playground and fitness center with indoor track.
