Joey Garcia, MPA, currently serves as the Director of Youth Protection Services in the Youth Development Department for the City of Los Angeles, a position held since January 2024. Prior to this role, Joey worked in the Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department, where leadership roles included Director of Contracts and Procurement and Director of Strategic Initiatives from June 2021 to January 2024, focusing on diversity and equity initiatives in Los Angeles. Joey's extensive background also encompasses several analytical positions within the City of Torrance, managing policy, resource management, and community engagement efforts from May 2016 to June 2021. Earlier experiences include legislative assistance roles and internships that emphasized research, analysis, and community program development across various public sector organizations in California. Joey holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Santa Barbara.
