Michael Barkalow possesses extensive experience in civil engineering, currently serving as the City Engineer for the City of Marion, Iowa, since December 2008. In this role, Michael oversees the administration and coordination of the Engineering Department, managing public improvement projects such as streets, bridges, and sewer systems while ensuring compliance with regulations. Prior positions include Acting City Engineer and Assistant City Engineer, where project design and management were key responsibilities. Michael's earlier roles include Project Engineer at MMS Consultants, Inc., and Civil Engineer at Snyder & Associates, Inc., supported by multiple summer internships in engineering and surveying. Michael holds a Master's Degree in Engineering Management and an M.B.A. from Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, respectively, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.
