Abdeslam Mazouz has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Abdeslam began their career as a Math Tutor at Riverland Community College in 2011 before transitioning to the role of IT Assistant in 2012. In 2012, they also worked as a Network Technician at Network Medics, where they provided customer service, troubleshooting, and hardware/software installation for over 200 clients.

In 2013, Mazouz joined United Hardware Dist. Co as a Systems Administrator. Abdeslam played a crucial role in migrating the organization to a Windows Active Directory environment from an IBM mainframe environment and implemented new IT service delivery and security best practices. Abdeslam also worked as a Junior Network and Systems Administrator with Robert Half Technology on a contract basis during this time.

Mazouz then joined Ecumen in 2015 as a Network Analyst/Security Administrator. Abdeslam was responsible for establishing a cybersecurity program, managing network and infrastructure architecture, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Abdeslam initiated the vulnerability management program using Nessus scanner and led the design and implementation of Zero Trust micro-segmentation using Sophos security gateways.

In 2016, Mazouz joined the City of Minneapolis and held multiple roles. As an IT Security Engineer II, they provided information security expertise to the city and assessed security risks associated with proposed software and hardware solutions. Abdeslam also worked as a Cybersecurity Architect, where they provided global security architecture expertise and worked with business units to develop security controls and solutions. Since 2020, they have served as the Chief Information Security Officer, overseeing strategic, operational, and budgetary aspects of information security and transforming the city's security posture.

Throughout their career, Mazouz has demonstrated a commitment to improving information security processes, implementing best practices, and optimizing security postures. Abdeslam holds the CISSP and CCISO certifications, which further highlight their expertise in the field.

Abdeslam Mazouz has a comprehensive education history in the field of information technology assurance and security. In 2009, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Youth Development from the Royal Institute for Executive Training. Following that, from 2011 to 2012, they pursued an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Network Security at Riverland Community College. In 2014, they further advanced their education by earning a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Technology Assurance and Security from Capella University.

Continuing to enhance their knowledge and skills, Abdeslam completed additional certifications. In 2013, they obtained the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification from Cisco. In 2015, they achieved the esteemed Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². Taking a higher leadership role in the field, in 2021, Abdeslam earned the Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) certification from EC-Council. Lastly, in 2022, they acquired the IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL) from PeopleCert.

To further develop their managerial and leadership capabilities, Abdeslam recently enrolled in the MIT Sloan Executive Education program and is expected to receive an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership in 2022. This indicates their commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in the field of information technology assurance and security.
