Erik Hansen is an accomplished economic development professional currently serving as the Director of Economic Policy & Development for the City of Minneapolis since September 2018. Prior experience includes the role of Economic Development & Housing Director in Brooklyn Park, MN, where leadership was provided to a team focused on community growth and opportunity from February 2015 to September 2018. Hansen previously worked as Principal Project Coordinator for the City of Minneapolis from 2003 to 2015, where significant contributions were made to real estate development and business strategies. Additional experience includes being a member of the Minneapolis Bicycle Advisory Committee, coordinating neighborhood improvement plans, and conducting policy research for the Minnesota House of Representatives. Hansen holds a Master of Public Policy in Community Development and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Minnesota, along with a Mini Master of Real Estate Development from the University of St. Thomas.
