John Hedstrom

Historian And Planner at City of Minneapolis

John Hedstrom has extensive experience in historical research and planning, currently serving as a Historian and Planner for the City of Minneapolis since 2008. Prior experience includes similar roles at PMC from 2005 to 2008 and the City of Santa Barbara from 2002 to 2004. In 2002, John worked as an Oral Historian for the Veteran’s History Project and Sacramento Visual Arts History Project. Additionally, John served as an instructor in the Department of History at California State University, Sacramento for a brief period in 2001 and managed collections at the Blue Earth County Historical Society from 2000 to 2001. John’s military background includes service as an Officer in the U.S. Army and Minnesota Army National Guard from 1995 to 2000. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Philosophy in Public History from the University of California, Santa Barbara and California State University, Sacramento, a Master of Arts in History from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
