Mei-Ling Smith

Mei-Ling Smith, AICP, currently serves as Principal City Planner for the City of Minneapolis since August 2013, focusing on community planning initiatives. Prior experience includes Senior City Planner, where responsibilities involved analyzing development proposals and drafting zoning ordinances for various municipal commissions. Mei-Ling's background also encompasses a role as Senior Transportation Planner with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, contributing to the Minnesota 20-Year State Highway Investment Plan. Academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Minnesota and a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Additional experience spans roles in research assistance, community development, and financial services.
