Prior experience includes a position as Manager of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of Richmond from September 2004 to June 2019, where responsibilities included enhancing municipal economic, infrastructure, and policy goals, and serving as Chair of the Smart Cities Challenge. Denise also provided protocol leadership for the Olympic Business Office during the 2010 Olympic Games and has developed learning programs with various Olympic venues. Denise's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Victoria, multiple certifications and training from institutions including Capilano University, the University of Phoenix, the University of British Columbia, and the University of California, Berkeley, and a Yoga Teacher Training certification specializing in trauma, resilience, and emotional well-being.
