Rohit Aggarwala serves as the Chief Climate Officer and Commissioner of Environmental Protection for the City of New York since February 2022, bringing extensive experience in urban sustainability and environmental policy. In conjunction with this role, Rohit has been an Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University since September 2013, teaching a course on "The Politics and Policy of Urban Sustainability." Previously, Rohit held significant positions including Senior Urban Tech Fellow at Cornell Tech, Senior Advisor and Head of Urban Systems at Sidewalk Labs, and Principal at Bloomberg Associates, where sustainability practices were established to assist multiple global cities. Additionally, Rohit contributed as Special Advisor to the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and helped shape Bloomberg Philanthropies' environmental programs. A former Director of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability for the City of New York, Rohit has a solid academic foundation with a Ph.D. in US History, an MBA in Finance, and other advanced degrees from Columbia University and Queen's University.
