Steven Turner

Steven Turner is a seasoned community development professional with extensive experience in municipal planning and management. Currently serving as the Community Development Director for the City of Newark, California since October 2019, Steven has played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and diverse community. Prior to this role, Steven held multiple positions at the City of Redwood City, including Acting Director of the Community Development & Transportation Department, managing a staff of nearly 60. Earlier in the career at the City of Palo Alto, Steven served as Advance Planning Manager and Senior Planner, overseeing impactful projects and programs related to housing, historic preservation, and zoning. Steven holds a BS in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University and has completed executive education at Stanford University, along with certificates in Non-Profit Management and Community Involvement.
