Chris Cunningham

Assistant City Attorney at City of Northport

Chris Cunningham is an accomplished legal and grants management professional with extensive experience in public service. Currently serving as an Assistant City Attorney and Grants Manager for the City of Northport since December 2021, Chris previously held the position of Hazard Mitigation & Long-Term Disaster Recovery Program Manager at the City and County of Honolulu's Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency from April 2019 to December 2021. Prior experience includes roles as Planning Project Manager at the US Army Corps of Engineers and State Exercise Manager at the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency. Chris also contributed as a Planning Specialist at the same agency and served as a Disaster Recovery Planner with FEMA. Early legal experience includes clerking for the New Orleans City Attorney and North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. Chris holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Mississippi School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English from Mississippi University for Women.
